Blood Orange Gin and Tonics

06.04.20 | Ashley | No Comments

Blood Orange Gin and TonicsBlood Orange Gin and TonicsIf anyone needs a little ray of sunshine right now today’s cocktail recipe will do just that! These blood orange gin and tonics are not only delicious and easy to make, they are also SO pretty! Plus, I know you are all sitting at home right now (or you should be!) so you have the time to mix one of them up!

Also, I need to address that, yes, this post was supposed to be the March cocktail of the month, but I got behind and was focused on other things, like spring break getting canceled and heading home in the middle of the corona virus quarantine. But, lucky for you guys, you get TWO cocktail recipes and videos this month instead! Woohoooo! If you haven’t followed along with my cute (and free!) printable cocktail calendar yet, being stuck at home for the next month is definitely a good time to jump on board.

Can we please stop for a minute and talk about how gorgeous blood oranges actually are. Amirite? Their color is so vibrant and stunning that it’s hard to want to use them without showing them off a little bit, but these blood orange gin and tonics showcase that pinkish-red hue in the most amazing way. They would make the perfect at home quarantine cocktail of the week in my humble opinion. Plus, I checked this morning and blood oranges were still available in my area on instacart, in case you needed that extra little push 😉

They are realllly simple to make and I have a short little video for you guys to check out at the end of this post proving it! So make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom and hit play!

Blood Orange Gin and TonicsHere’s what you’ll need to make your own:

  • 2.5 oz. Fresh Blood Orange Juice
  • 2 oz. Gin
  • 4 oz. Tonic Water
  • 2 Dashes of Orange Bitters

First, juice the blood oranges.

Fill up a glass with ice.

Add the gin, blood orange juice, and tonic water to the glass.

Add the dashes of orange bitters to the glass.

Stir.

Cut up a few wedges of a blood orange and use as a garnish for the finished cocktail.

Blood Orange Gin and TonicsYou can sip directly from the glass or use a cocktail straw.

Enjoy out in the backyard or while curled up on the couch watching Netflix.

And, as promised, the video is below!
