Holiday Front Door Decorations

Holiday Front Door DecorationsNow that Thanksgiving is over, it’s officially time to put up the tree and decorate for the holidays. That is, unless your decorations are already hung proudly, and you boycotted the rule of “Thanksgiving first”.

I usually struggle to decide which route I want to go with my holiday decorating style every year. I’m always drawn to the minimal and rustic elements that look so pretty with natural wood and a light dusting of snow, but it seems that my modern loving heart always seems to win out. If I can find a way to mesh the two styles without looking crazy, then I get the best of both worlds.

Holiday Front Door DecorationsThis year, I teamed up with The Home Depot for their annual holiday style challenge and tackled a project that I usually forget about.

The interior always gets my main focus, with putting up the tree, changing the holiday china, lighting my pine scented candles, and making sure there is enough Christmas music playing to drive the hubs crazy. Sure, I throw a few wreaths up outside, but I really wanted to dress the front entry way this year and give it a little more thought than I usually do.

So I’m sharing some really easy ways to transform some basic things to make your holiday front door decorations shine this year! (And trust me, it’s easier than you think!)

Holiday Front Door DecorationsI was sent a mystery box of decorations, was assigned a specific “room” to decorate, and then was let loose to create some magic.

I was assigned the “front door” before my box arrived and when it did, it contained some ribbon, a faux green wreath and garland, and some cute lanterns.

It would probably have been easier to go the rustic route, since the front entry is dark brown, but who am I to shy away from a challenge? So I picked hot pink instead! (I told you I usually end up going with something modern!)

Holiday Front Door DecorationsYou’ll have to head over to the Home Depot blog to see what I did to transform some basic holiday items to suit my style, but let’s just say that a can of white and pink spray paint were my best friends.

And the great things about all of my projects…? You can totally use your own color palette to get the same effect, especially if you hate pink! Or switch out the colors every year to something new, while still using the same basic decorations each time.

Holiday Front Door DecorationsThe projects are simple enough to create that anyone can pull them off and you can easily finish them all within an afternoon too! So you still have plenty of time to get some holiday decorations up.

Holiday Front Door DecorationsSpecial thanks to The Home Depot for asking me to be a part of their challenge this year!
