Fourth of July Poppers

29.06.15 | Ashley | No Comments

DIY Fourth of July PoppersDIY Fourth of July PoppersI don’t know about you, but I’ve been ROASTING in the heat these last few days!

It’s been above 100 degrees all weekend here and I’ve been making every excuse to stay indoors.

Pretty sad that I was longing for summer weather all winter long and now that it’s here, I’m trying to keep cool. (#summerfail)

Oh, well. The grass is always greener, right?

Either way, it’s a good excuse to stay inside and have some DIY fun instead!

There is a certain birthday coming up this week and I couldn’t resist having a little fun making a mess and basking in all of the red, white, and blue glory.

Today’s DIY will let you do just that too! (Sorry about the mess in advance. This is your only warning, but the fun is well worth it, I promise.)

These fourth of July poppers are a cinch to make, really fun to play with, and the perfect activity for the kids that doesn’t involve flames, explosives, or the emergency room. Not too shabby, right?

You only need a few items to put these together and they take no time at all to make.

I chose to use these awesome crackers snaps for some added fun (they are the things that give the poppers a loud bang when you pull them apart) but you definitely don’t need them to make this project. It’s just a fun added element!

DIY Fourth of July PoppersHere’s what you’ll need to make your own:

  • Tissue Paper – Your choice of colors, I used red, navy, and royal blue
  • Empty Toilet Paper Rolls
  • Confetti
  • Tape
  • Curling Ribbon
  • Cracker Snaps (optional)

DIY Fourth of July PoppersFirst, cut your toilet paper roll in the center and go almost all the way through. Leave a tiny bit connected. This will help to ensure that your poppers pull apart easily.

Once cut, roll your toilet paper roll with your tissue paper and secure with tape.

DIY Fourth of July PoppersPlace your cracker snap inside your roll and tie off one end of your popper with your curling ribbon.

DIY Fourth of July PoppersFill your popper with confetti.

DIY Fourth of July PoppersTie off the other end and snip off the excess paper on either end of your popper. Make sure to leave enough of the cracker snap hanging out so that it will also get pulled when the popper is used.

DIY Fourth of July PoppersCurl your ribbon and enjoy!

DIY Fourth of July PoppersDIY Fourth of July PoppersThese fourth of July poppers are so easy to put together, take no time, and are a fun (and different) way to celebrate the fourth!

I definitely see these being a summer staple and a new tradition for the littles in your life too!
