One of my VERY favorite movie series of all time, hands down, has to be James Bond. I don’t even think I can narrow it down to a specific favorite movie in the series. I like them all. Although, I did start out as a Pierce Brosnan fan, once Daniel Craig took over, was there really any going back? (Let’s be serious). There’s just something about a handsome guy in a suit, driving a gorgeous sports car, wielding a gun, and kicking some serious ass. Maybe I have a thing for British spies…? Who knows. But, on National Martini Day, it only seems right to highlight and celebrate one of the most famous martinis of all time. The James Bond martini recipe. It snowed in Utah today. Snow. Apparently Spring decided to stay on vacation this year, because she doesn’t seem to be showing up anytime soon. To be honest, it seemed a little silly to write a post about a recipe for DIY simple syrup (which is sooooo easy to make), but after posting a few cocktail recipes in the past, that required the ingredient, I was surprised that I actually received a lot of comments about it. What it was, where to buy it, and how to make your own. So, to make things simpler moving forward, and to prevent you guys from having to search the web for a tutorial, I’m dedicating this post to all things DIY simple syrup!
From what I’ve read around the web, I’m not the only one intimidated by the thought of making my own marshmallows. I don’t know what it is about those pillowey little clouds of sugar, but they are intimidating AF. (Don’t you guys agree?!) I’ve attempted them once before, only to throw the whole batch in the trash, but my stubbornness won out and I gave them another shot. And, boooooy, am I glad that I did! Not only are they actually really easy to make when you get the concept down, but they are sooooo much better than store bought mallows. I’m not even a marshmallow girl, but I’d definitely snack on a few of these mint chocolate marshmallows!
Despite what the weather channel is forecasting for Utah at the moment, I’m going to push it out of my mind and focus on the fact that the calendar says that it’s supposed to be Spring. Maybe if I believe hard enough, Mother Nature will get the hint and push some of those warmer temps and sunny days my way. But, until then, I’m going to grab some fresh tulips and display these gorgeous DIY ombre bud vases on my counter. They scream Spring and are oh, so easy to make!
